Travel and Medicare
Every US citizen is eligible for Medicare at age 65. There is an entire industry in the insurance field that sells insurance to fill the gaps that are not paid by Medicare. One of the most glaring loopholes in US Medicare is the lack of coverage outside the US. This means that if you have medicare without a supplement there will be no health insurance if you get sick or hurt overseas.. It is most important to purchase travel insurance for this coverage. Even with a supplement which will cover expenses outside the US, evacuation is usually not covered. Before taking a trip, making sure you have proper medical coverage for your trip should be at the top of your list. Our travel medical plans and trip cancellation insurance all have medical and evacuation coverage.
